Thank You Old Navy

As I was shopping at the outlets today, I got a call from a friend. She told me to get my butt to Old Navy. She was telling me that she just got some great deals. All of their clearance items are an additional 50% off the lowest price.
Check out these prices on baby stuff:

Remember, you take an additional 50% off the prices above.

Here was my order as it was being rung up....23 cents, 48 cents, 73 cents, 98 cents.

Thank you Old Navy!

Pilgrimage to the Holy Land

I went to one of my places of worship today.

Check it out, it was practically empty.

I made my usual first stop, which is Gap Outlet. I found this shirt for $4.99. It looked okay, until I turned around. Yeah, no. I think I'd be better off putting a sign on my back that reads "Wide Load".

I also found this sweater for $19.99. It also looked blah on me.
Strike out, so far. Oh well, off to my next stop:

Now, this is an outlet that I don't understand. All of the shoes/boots in here are the exact same price as any regular store. What the heck?! It's an OUTLET. They do have one little, itty, bitty, tiny clearance section at the back of the store. Today it had six pairs of shoes in it, all in size 10.
I saw these there.
I like pink as much as the next gal, but these are a bit much. Maybe we'll be seeing them on that clearance rack before long.
I walked out of Ugg empty-handed as well.

I headed on over to White House, Black Market to have a look. I loved this store when it first became popular. Then they started making their clothes polyester and rayon. Not that there's anything wrong with poly and rayon, but I'm not paying $88 for a rayon top. I'm just not doing it (picture a stern look on my face as I'm saying that).
I did find this strapless top (100% cotton) for $14.99. A great price and a cute top, but they didn't have my size. Rats!
Again, I walked out empty-handed.
Then I thought, "hmm, maybe I'll take a quick peak into Arden B."
Feast your eyes on these beauties!

A thought suddenly occurred to me as I was in that store. "Wait a minute, I'm not 18. And I don't go clubbing. And I'm not a floozy. Maybe there's some other, more appropriate attire in here for someone my age." I found it! Jeans with a full elastic waist. What could be better?
I'll tell you what could be better? Seeing the price tag on these babies.

After I talked myself out of getting the mom jeans I headed over to American Apparel. I read somewhere that they were changing the whole look of their stores. They must be waiting on that because it was exactly the same. Is this a joke?

I had my eye on this sweet, shiny black jacket.
Then I saw that it came in gold. It's my lucky day!

I should have bought this gold dress. I could have worn it with the cool gold jacket. I would be lookin' fine in all that gold.

At this point you're probably wondering what I ended up buying. Well, I couldn't go to the outlets without stopping in the best, most magical place on earth..

I spent the entire morning shopping. I think I went into 30 stores. This is what I came home with.

Thanks for reading this really long post. I'm tired now.

Cooking With Loopy-Part Three

Since we're already doing some French cooking, I figured we'd stay on this side of the globe and do some other cooking.
Here's a hint for the kind of cooking we'll be doing today:

Yes, we'll be heading (in our imaginations, of course) to the lovely, rolling hills of Ireland for some good, old fashion cooking from the old country.

Here's our recipe for today:

Tea (your favorite brand, but I used Barry's because that's what REAL Irish people drink)
Tea kettle
Tea cup

Here's the how to:

If you need to grab a pen and paper to write down these instructions, I'll wait.

Here we go.

First, fill the tea kettle with water.

Now, wait for it to boil. For those of you not into cooking, boil means really, really hot.

Next, put your tea bag into your tea cup.
Now it's time to pour the hot water into the cup.

Viola (wait, what's Irish for viola?)

Now, doesn't that look delightful?

A special shout to Rich and Anne Marie. I hope you use this recipe in good health.

Overeating

I was going to take the night off from blogging but my loyal reader (you know who you are) begged me not to. So, here you go:

Watching the News the other night I saw a blurb on a tamale eating contest. This is the third eating contest that I've heard of in the last week. The first one involved hot dogs, the second one was put on by b. good and it was a garlicky greens eating contest.
I just have so much trouble understanding these contests. What I have more trouble understanding is the prize. Usually it's money but there is also a belt involved. A BELT! Why would an eating contest give a belt as a prize? After eating all of that food, how can you even fit a belt around you? I know it's some kind of ceremonial belt, but still. It just seems strange to me.

Sometimes I feel like these people when I eat. I have to make a conscious effort to slow down.
This hits very close to home with me right now. I went to dinner with a friend at one of my favorite restaurants tonight. I'm happy/sad to say that I'm a member of the "clean plate club." I gobbled up everything. We even got dessert to split. As a result, I can't move. I feel like it's Thanksgiving and I'm in a total food coma.

Where are my Tums?

Cooking With Loopy-Part Deux

For this segment of CWL, I thought we'd hop across the Atlantic. I'll give you a few hints of what kind of cooking we'll be doing today:

If you guessed French food, you're right!

Here's what we'll be making today:
I'm pretty sure Ore-Ida is French for yummy. I've never been to France, but I'm sure these are big over there. My question is, if you're in France do you have to ask for "French Fries" or just fries? I'm going to have to look into that further.

Here's our recipe for today:
Ore-Ida French Fries (or any other brand that you may like)
Cookie sheet (I thought they were just for cookies but apparently you can use them for other things)

Once you're ready, place your fries in a SINGLE LAYER on the cookie sheet. Here's what it should NOT look like:

This is the correct way:

After cooking for about 15 minutes (or however long it states on the package) they will be done. Let them cool for a bit, add a dash of salt and viola, they're done!

I just love French food. Yum!

Hunting for Bargains

For those of you in my area, you know about the store below:

For those of you not in the area; the original store was named Building 19. The other stores all have fractions after the 19. This one in Hanover is 19 1/3. I don't like fractions, they confuse me. Anyway, Building 19 is basically a junk yard that takes Visa. You can find just about anything in there; nothing you need, of course, but stuff that's fun to look at and possibly buy.
One of the things that I like best about Building 19 is that it's not trying to be something that it isn't. It's not pretentious, AT ALL. It is what it is.

As I was in there the other day, I took a look around at the people shopping there. They were all regular Joe's (and Jane's) just like you and me. You see, Building 19 is like a treasure hunt. And who doesn't love a good treasure hunt? You just have to pick through the junk to find something worthwhile.
I found this cute coat for $19.99. I tried it on and it looked cute but I decided that I didn't need it right now.

I also found this Land's End children's fleece jacket for $7.99

They also had this leather couch:

My heart skipped a beat when I saw this:

I ended up walking out empty-handed. I did having fun hunting for treasure though.

Deal of the Day!

There's a great deal going on right now with Edible Arrangements. If you go to their Facebook page and "like" them you will get a $25 box of chocolate covered fruit for $10.

Their presentation is always nice. Even the bag is cute.

It looked so nice that I almost didn't want to open it. Then I remembered that there was chocolate inside.
I've heard that the type of fruit that you get varies by store. As you can see, I got strawberries.

It took about 30 seconds to take these pictures. That was as long as I could hold out for.

Chocolate: yummy. Strawberries: yummy. Put them together and it's bliss.
You have to hurry if you want to order these. This deal ends TOMORROW!
