Pinkberry=Yummy

As I was doing some errands today, I decided to reward myself with a treat. That treat came in the form of frozen yogurt. I was at the Derby Street Shoppes in Hingham, MA, when I came upon the newest addition to the shopping area....PINKBERRY! What? What is this fabulous looking place? I asked myself. Why is the line out the door? Is it really worth the wait? I decided to check it out. I'm so glad I did. Can I just say...YUMMY! They have 5-6 flavors and they add FRESH toppings to their fro-yo. One of the sayings on the wall reads "Our fruit is never canned, frozen or sitting in goo." I love that. You can tell just by looking at it that everything is really fresh. I was also surprised by the prices. They're not bad. I was expecting it to be overpriced, but it was not. I paid $2 and change for a cone. If I went across the way to the ice cream place, that shall remain nameless (---- Stone -----), where you have to think to yourself, "Hmm, do I want to buy ice cream, or pay the mortgage this month?" I would have paid double.

Sometimes I Forget How Old I Am

I was talking to a friend today and somehow the subject of product names came up. I asked her if she remembered a shampoo called "Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific". She did not. I forgot that a lot of my friends are considerably younger than I am. I think, in fact, that she didn't believe me when I told her about the shampoo. I told her to Google it. She now believes me.

Being ever curious, I decided to Google "products with stupid names". Click here to see what I found.

I can tell you that product #10 really does exist. A friend of mine gave it to me one year for my birthday. I have great friends!

Phew!

The book sale in finally done and gone. We raised $638! My goal was $500, so I was very happy when I realized that we surpassed that. I had some helpers along the way: my sister, Kelly, her husband and kids. Everyone that came to the sale was very nice. I made sure to tell them all that we do it every year. I'm hoping that I will get many return customers. Here are a few pictures from the day.

Gearing Up!

Every August for the past five years I've done something a little crazy. I've had a book sale. It benefits the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. It's crazy because I always forget how hot it is in August. Lugging those books around is back breaking work. Since I've been doing this so long, I have people who just drop books off at my parents house, where the sale is held. Often times they come home to find boxes and bags of books on their porch. It's a great thing.

We've actually been fortunate in that it hasn't been too hot on the actual sale day. It's just hot leading up to the sale, so working in the garage at my parents house to sort and box all of the books is steamy. I wouldn't have it any other way though. I've raised about $2,000 over the last four years. This year my goal is $500.

I'm fortunate that I have my sister to help out. She brings her husband and three kids too. I couldn't do it without them.

These Boots Are Made for Walking

Recently, I found myself in Old Navy, once again. I was just browsing when I came across this amazing find.

Children's boots on clearance for 99 cents each. I bought every pair that they had. These will be donated to Cradles to Crayons. For $7.96, eight little girls will have nice, warm tootsies this winter.

Happy Birthday to a Dear Friend!

Today is a very special day for my friend Janie. And special days deserve special gifts. The ladies and I came up with the idea of giving her a piece of jewelry. "What kind of jewelry?" we thought.

Since it's her big birthday, it must be something memorable. That's when the idea struck! Something in a blue box. Who doesn't LOVE getting a gift in a blue box?

Since the moment I met Janie, I knew we'd be good friends. We met in junior high and have been friends since. She was insanely popular and everyone loved her. She had a casual, fun way about her that made people want to be around her. She still has that today. One of the things that I love most about Janie is her laugh. It is the most infectious laugh I have ever heard. It can still make me laugh until I cry, without even knowing what she's laughing about in the first place! We've come a long way since junior high and high school . She's now a married mom of three living an hour away. I can't say enough about how much she means to me. Her friendship has been invaluable over the years.

So, Janie, here's to a great 40 years. Looking forward to the next 40!!
